About
“As a father of two young girls, I can tell you they are especially excited every summer when it is time to walk up to watch a movie. We make sure to get there plenty early so they can run and play with their friends on the play ground. It gets them sufficiently tired so they can settle down on their blanket with a big box of popcorn and watch a great family friendly movie. They will probably never bring the drive-in back but I think back to the day when I went to the drive-in with my parents. All the fun and excitement and the crazy social scene at the play ground waiting for it to get dark. This is probably the closest they will ever get to that experience, and I am so happy we have the opportunity to share that together. ” Donald Herrington
Ellsworth Arts was formed in 2007. We worked with the City of Ellsworth and the Schoodic Sculpture Symposium to install a sculpture as part of the streetscape of Downtown Ellsworth, Maine. The granite sculpture is located on State Street in a grassy triangle, a short distance from the Ellsworth Public Library on the historic Peter's Block. The sculpture titled "I Want to Ride a Cloud" was created by Narihiro Uemura from Japan.
Since 2009, Ellsworth Arts in partnership with the City of Ellsworth has presented Outdoor Movies during July and August at the Knowlton Park amphitheater. We have a 16′ x 9′ inflatable screen that the movies are projected on. We also have a 9′ x 5′ inflatable screen featuring movie previews and sponsors. The movies are family friendly, rated PG and G. One PG-13 is shown each season. All are welcome and admission is free.
